Venice Lagoon: a quiet spot

(I don't care when or where, I just care that you're there)

 

A white egret was looking at me for a while...

 then he flew away.

 

 

 

Those lilac flowers in the middle of the water are the Limonium Narbonense (a species of sea lavender), and they are quite common in the Venice lagoon.

Famous dish of Lazio, original from Amatrice and widespread today. It consists of spaghetti or bucatini pasta served with a sauce made of bacon, red pepper, onion, olive oil and a little tomato, on which is spread grated cheese.

[Botticelli's Primavera is a photo I took in the Uffizi Museum - Dec 2011]

Dante saw coming towards him a lady who was very famous for her beauty, her right name was Joan; but because of her comeliness she was called of many Primavera (Spring). Then looking again, he perceived that the most noble Beatrice followed after her. And he gave to Beatrice his own name: Love.

With this in mind he composed the poem that ends with the verses I included in the picture above.

Burano is one of the islands forming Venezia, here the light comes always in many colors; from the bright red of few buildings to the dark green of the waters. For me lilac nuance is the most romantic color I found in this lovely place.
